4 DIY Face Masks That Will Make Your Skin Glow

Face masks are a great way to bring life back into your skin. Whether you’re dealing with dry, oily, normal, or combination skin – face masks should be used in everyone’s skincare routine. The beauty of using homemade face masks is that they are generally good for all skin types and can target a specific skin concern or condition such as acne, dryness, or dullness.

Face masks can be used every day if needed and should be used at least once a week as part of your regular pampering routine. If you have the time to spare, apply one before your shower so that the steam from the hot water will help open pores and allow for deeper penetration, especially after exfoliating and removing dead skin cells. We’ve compiled some of our favorite and easy-to-make recipes below that will leave you feeling fresh-faced and fabulous!

Note: Homemade masks are generally safe for all skin types, but if you have any allergies or sensitivities to anything, be sure to check the ingredients before putting them on your face. You can also test each ingredient by putting a small amount on your inner arm and waiting 24 hours to make sure there is no irritation.

Banana & Honey Face Mask

Mash 1/2 banana until it’s smooth. You can use a fork or blender for this step. Add 1 teaspoon of honey to the banana and mix well. Apply to face and leave on for 15 minutes before rinsing off with water!

Oatmeal and Coconut Oil Face Mask

For super-dry skin, this creamy mask gets the job done. Combine two tablespoons of oatmeal with one tablespoon of coconut oil and warm water to make a paste. Apply an even layer to your face and let sit for 10 minutes before rinsing. The oatmeal will calm any redness you have while the coconut oil hydrates dry patches.

Brown Sugar Lip Scrub

This all-natural exfoliator is perfect for those who suffer from chronically chapped lips all winter long. Mix together one tablespoon brown sugar, one teaspoon honey, and one teaspoon olive oil. Rub all over your lips in small circular motions, then wipe away with a damp cloth. Use two to three times per week for the best results!

Green Tea Acne Mask

This powerful mask won’t just clear up acne, it will also help prevent future breakouts. Brew a cup of green tea and let cool completely before pouring into a bowl with one tablespoon of honey, 1/4 cup of plain yogurt, and two tablespoons of oatmeal. Mix well and apply for 15-20 minutes before rinsing clean. This mask can be used twice a week to keep skin clear!
