Best Pies To Make This Autumn

Pies are one of the things we can never get enough of during autumn. It’s a season of warm, cozy foods, and pies are right at home on a plate next to some hearty stew or roast. The smell of pie baking in the oven is one of the most comforting smells this time of year, and that first bite into a flaky crust with a gooey filling is just as good as you remember from your childhood—or even better now that you’re an adult.

But why are pies so great for the fall? The answer is really simple: pumpkin pie! Pumpkin pie isn’t something you’d even consider eating in the heat of summer, but it’s the perfect dessert for chilly October days when you want to snuggle up by a fire with a blanket and a good book. No matter how much you love your pumpkin pie in the fall, though, there are also plenty of tasty reasons you should be eating pies all year round.

And they are versatile: The options for what kind of filling you put in your pie are practically endless, which means they can suit just about any occasion.

This year I’m trying to push myself to try new things, so I combined a few of the recipes I’ll be making in the next weeks (I also snuck in some of the pies I already know my family adores):

Pumpkin Pie

Pecan Pie

Maple-Walnut Cranberry Pie

Chocolate Chess Pie

Blueberry Crumble Cheesecake Pie

Cinnamon Roll Apple Pie

Bourbon Sweet Potato Pie

Apple Butter Pie

Pear-Ginger Pie
