Are you finding yourself longing for luxurious soft lips you’re seeing all over Instagram? So do we, and after weeks of trying different tips and tricks we came up with a few that really worked for us!
Don’t feel bad about having smaller lips, in reality the majority of lips you see on the internet have had some sort of work done, but getting fillers isn’t something you should feel pressured to do. You can achieve amazing results naturally.
Step one: Scrub, scrub, scrub
With chapped lips comes the excess dry skin. Using peeling once or twice a week is a must in every skincare routine, so why do we forget about our lips?
The easiest way to bring some extra blood flow into your lips and get rid of the old skin is to use a toothbrush and brush your lips. It will make your lips soft and smooth.
If you’re not a fan of a toothbrush and prefer to use a scrub, you can DIY one with the ingredients you already have at home. Mix one teaspoon of honey with two teaspoons of sugar (white or brown). Massage the scrub into your lips and after leaving it on for a few minutes remove the mixture with some water.
Taking care of your lips and removing dry skin regularly will make your lipstick look much better and stay on for longer.
Step two: Moisturize
Now that we got rid of the dry skin it’s time to bring some moisture to your lips! To do so, you can use your favorite lip balm – preferably one with SPF 30 or higher if you’re going to spend time outdoors.
If you are dealing with really dry, cracked lips and don’t feel like lip balm is doing much, you can use a thick ointment like white petroleum jelly.
Step three: Drink plenty of water
Staying hydrated can help your skin and lips tremendously. Dehydration is not the only reason your lips might be chapped, but it could definitely be a big factor. Set reminders throughout the day on your phone, to keep you reminded to drink water. Stay away from flavored water as those usually contain sugar and won’t hydrate you as much.
Step four: Don’t be afraid to overline your lips
Who needs lip fillers when you can make your lips look plumper with lip liner?
To overline your lips pick a shade slightly darker than your natural lip shade and frame the outside of your lips just slightly over your natural lip line. Bring the darker shade to the corners of your lips and use a lighter shade in the middle to create a more natural, fuller look.
Step five: Enjoy your new look!
